Step 5: Stairwell Walls — Adjacent stairwell walls painted in the colour and sheen appropriate to the rest of the home's palette.
Staircase projects require sequencing — we can't take the stairs out of service entirely while paint cures, so we work in sections to maintain access throughout the project. Our crew plans this phasing before the first brush goes down, and homeowners always have safe stair access throughout. We also advise on curing timelines so the new finish is not stressed by heavy traffic before it has fully hardened.
Yes. We work in alternating sections so there is always a safe path. We schedule the final coat for a time when we can have a few hours of reduced traffic for the fresh surface to set.
We use alkyd-hybrid or waterborne alkyd enamel — products that cure significantly harder than standard latex and hold up to the grip and contact wear that railings endure. Benjamin Moore Advance and Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane are two products we rely on for this application.
