Bathroom Painting

Bathroom Painting in Toronto & the GTA

Bathrooms are the most moisture-intensive rooms in a home. Paint that isn't properly selected and applied in a bathroom will peel, bubble, or grow mildew within a year or two. The right approach starts with the right primer — moisture-blocking, mildew-resistant — and ends with a topcoat designed for humid environments.

Cornerstone Pro Painting handles bathroom repaints for all bathroom sizes and types — powder rooms, main baths, ensuites, and basement bathrooms. We use moisture-resistant primers and durable semi-gloss or satin topcoats that hold up to daily shower steam and humidity. Prep is thorough: any existing peeling or bubbling is addressed before new paint goes on.

Our Process

01
Surface Inspection

We check for existing paint failure — peeling, bubbling, or mildew — and address it before any new paint is applied. Painting over failed paint doesn't fix anything.

02
Moisture-Blocking Primer

All surfaces receive a moisture-blocking, mildew-resistant primer. This is the most important step for bathroom durability.

03
Semi-Gloss or Satin Topcoat

We apply a durable topcoat in your chosen colour. Semi-gloss is standard for bathrooms — it's washable, moisture-resistant, and easy to clean.

04
Caulking & Trim

Gaps at trim, tiles, and fixtures are re-caulked where needed. Clean caulk lines protect the surface and finish the room properly.

Common Questions About
Bathroom Painting

What paint should be used in a bathroom?

A moisture-resistant, mildew-resistant paint applied over a proper primer is essential. We use Benjamin Moore Aura Bath & Spa or Sherwin-Williams Emerald for bathrooms — both are formulated specifically for high-humidity spaces.

How long should I wait before showering after bathroom painting?

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours before using a shower or bath after painting. The paint is dry to the touch sooner, but needs time to fully cure.

Can you paint over peeling bathroom paint?

Not directly — peeling paint must be removed first, the surface primed, and then repainted. Painting over peeling paint just delays the problem.

Do you paint bathroom ceilings?

Yes. Bathroom ceilings require the same moisture-resistant products as the walls. We always recommend painting the ceiling at the same time as the walls.

How long does bathroom painting take?

Most bathrooms take half a day to a full day depending on size and condition. An ensuite with extensive tile surrounds or detailed trim may take longer.
